Pay Per Mile Programs

Some European and Asian countries, as well as some states here in the U.S., are looking into taxing drivers based on their total vehicle miles traveled. GPS-based meters can track the number of miles driven in order to tax each driver accordingly. The distance charging would replace the decreasing revenues currently generated from gasoline taxes, due to an increase in hybrid and electric vehicles.
